Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Call us at (613) 230-0517 or email us.

Where do I park?
Free on-site parking is available in front of The Effect in the lot marked for units 149–151 Second Avenue. This is usually available except during busy lunch and dinner times. Parking on Second Avenue itself is free for 2 hours. There is also paid parking in the City of Ottawa parking garage across the street, in front of the building, or on Bank Street.
Do you direct bill insurance?
We do not offer direct billing at this time. However, we provide detailed receipts that can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement, depending on your coverage. RMT services with Vanessa are typically covered by most extended health plans.
What happens during the first visit?
Your first visit involves a comprehensive assessment to uncover the root causes of your symptoms and to ensure safe, individualized care. For chiropractic, this includes: a detailed review of your health and medical history, neurological function testing (HRV, posture, balance), orthopaedic and spinal mobility testing, advanced spinal analysis, and X-ray imaging if clinically indicated (performed off-site, covered by OHIP). We'll go over the findings and recommend a tailored care plan based on your goals and current health.
How much does it cost?
Please call our front desk at (613) 230-0517 for up-to-date pricing details. We believe in transparent, accessible care and offer options to suit different needs. We also encourage everyone to book a free 15-minute consultation to explore whether our approach is the right fit before committing to any services.
Is chiropractic care safe?
Yes, chiropractic care is very safe when delivered by a licensed and experienced practitioner. At The Effect, we prioritize nervous system function and use gentle, specific techniques to support your body's natural ability to heal. Every new client begins with a thorough initial assessment to ensure care is both safe and effective for your individual needs. And if cracking isn't for you, it's never required.
How often will I need to come in?
Your care frequency depends on your goals, stress levels, and current health. Most people begin care 1–3 times per week during the initial phase of nervous system repair. As your body adapts and heals, we gradually reduce visit frequency to support long-term wellness and prevention.
How do I know which service is right for me?
Choosing the right service starts with a conversation. We offer free 15-minute consultations with our practitioners to learn more about your needs and guide you toward the most aligned care plan. You can book directly at theeffect.janeapp.com or call us at (613) 230-0517.
What chiropractic techniques does Dr. Sadie use?
Dr. Sadie specializes in gentle, neurologically-based care with an emphasis on whole-person healing. What is Reiki / energy healing?
Reiki is a gentle, hands-on (or hands-above) healing technique that supports the body's natural ability to regulate and heal itself. It works with your energy field to reduce stress, release blocks, and restore balance across body, mind, and spirit. Reiki comes from a Japanese lineage, and at The Effect it is offered with full respect to its roots, integrated into a trauma-informed and wholistic care model.
Do you work with children and infants?
Yes. Dr. Sadie has experience supporting infants, children, and neurodivergent clients through gentle chiropractic techniques. Her approach is adapted to be safe and comfortable for all ages. Please book a free 15-minute consult to discuss your child's specific needs.
